PREPARATION OF THE SUPPORT AND APPLICATION CYCLE
New iron fairings. A coat of two-component EPOFOND AM-9 is applied to grade 2.5 sandblasted iron and left to dry for 12-24 hours. (If it is not possible to sandblast it, it is advisable to mechanically restore the iron to new condition; clean the surface and apply 1 coat of EVIOX CROMOMINIO, leaving it to dry for 8-12 hours.) Then apply 2 coats of SOLVER PRIMER with an interval of 24 hours between They. Overpaint with 2 coats of CONTENDER antifouling at least 8 hours apart.
New wooden fairings.Apply a coat of EVIOX CROMOMINIO and let it dry for 8-12 hours. Apply 2 coats of SOLVER PRIMER 24 hours from each other, then 2 coats of CONTENDER antifouling at least 8 hours apart.
Fairings already painted. If the old antifouling is in good condition and well anchored, it will be sufficient to apply one or two coats of SOLVER PRIMER, before overcoating with 2 coats of CONTENDER at least 8 hours apart between one coat and the next.
Fiberglass and Plastic. Degrease with detergents and water and rinse. Lightly sand with fine abrasive papers and dust. Apply a coat of POLIFIBER PRIMER and after 24 hours sand with fine sandpaper. Then apply with 2 coats of CONTENDER at least 8 hours apart.
nb as an alternative to POLIFIBER it is possible to use EPOFOND AM9 in the same conditions.
Recommendations. The maximum period of commissioning of the antifouling, after the application of the last coat, is 1 month; with top-of-the-range products based on copper oxide and upon agreement with our technical personnel, the same can extend up to 3 months, provided that the hull is protected from humidity, rain, or atmospheric agents, with plastic or similar material.
Color. The color of the antifouling after immersion may undergo a slight variation. There may be small differences in color between different production batches: in this case, mix them before application.
Remarks. The values indicated in this technical data sheet may undergo slight variations from one production to another. The applied product must not be put in contact with water, chemical products or subjected to mechanical stress before complete crosslinking. The thicknesses of the wet film are intended for the undiluted product. With dilution, this value will increase. The above information is the result of accurate laboratory tests and practical experiences, however, given that the product is mainly used outside the manufacturer’s control, the same can only guarantee its continuous quality. The information contained in this sheet may be subject to review by the Company. For clarifications, updates or further information it is advisable to contact the manufacturer directly.
